[GIVEAWAY!] Gentle Teresa & Andover KAL ended!

Hello all~

Finally, the Gentle Teresa & Andover KAL is over! If you’re still finishing up, post pictures on Ravelry or your blog and send me the links. If you don’t have Ravelry or a blog, then send stories and photos to me jdknitter (at) gmail (dot) com.

I got only a few so far so the competition is very very low. SEND YOURS IN TODAY by 3PM PST!

I’ll pick the winners today and contact them individually! :)

My first (failed) attempt at KAL & Prize Giveaway

So last year in the beginning of the fall season, I announced that I would like to do a knitalong with either Gentle Teresa or Andover. I also had some prizes and said that the deadline was in December (my first mistake; so many of you were trying to finish up holiday knitting!)

I didn’t really have that many participants so I think I would like to just giveaway my prizes. Today, I looked over the project page under Gentle Teresa, which had 36!!! projects already. Nothing under Andover yet but I know people purchased the patterns so they’re maybe just not posting about their projects or the projects are hibernating… (I know my 3rd Andover is still sitting somewhere behind our bed)

So! This is how it’s going to work (for both Andover and Gentle Teresa):

If you have a Ravelry account or a blog: Post pictures and blog about it if you haven’t done so! Then email me the links at jdknitter (at) gmail (dot) com.

If you don’t have Ravelry or a blog, then Email me at jdknitter (at) gmail (dot) com.

Deadline? I’ll have to give those of you who are still finishing up projects so I’d say February 28, 2013!

Prizes: Those yarns from that post  but I’ll be adding NEW prizes for every 10 new posts/emails I get.

How to increase your chance of winning the giveaway? SHARE YOUR STORIES. I know I do this too, but sometimes we just post pictures and that’s it. But I’d love to hear about your experiences with the projects, the good and the bad. :)

Fall 2012 KAL: Andover or Gentle Teresa

I checked the weather forecast for this week, and it seems like fall is finally starting this Wednesday:

It’s been 90+ degrees here almost everyday, and finally, it’s going back down to the 70s! This makes me so happy. So happy that I want to start a KAL! (that was pretty cheesy…)

Since I have two sweater patterns out already in Knitty and Twist Collective this year, I thought it would be fun to knit those together.

I know that some people started knitting Gentle Teresa as their Ravellenics projects, so if you haven’t finished them on time, this will be a great way to get them done! Most importantly, I’ll be here knitting too so I can provide quicker and hopefully better explanation if you have any questions about the pattern.

Here are the details:

FALL 2012 KAL “Andover” or “Gentle Teresa”

- Pick a pattern: Either Andover or Gentle Teresa.

- Get the materials ready by 8/31/2012

- KAL Starts on 9/1/2012!!

- KAL Ends on 12/15/2012.

- Prize: For the first 20 people that finish, I will compile a list and randomly pick 3 people for prizes. Prizes will be revealed on 8/30/2012.

- Leave a comment here, email me using the Contact Us form, or pm me on Ravelry to join the KAL. Please provide your Ravelry ID and/or Email Address so that I can contact you.

- On 8/30/2012, when I reveal the prizes, I’ll create a blog post so you can leave comments and questions as we proceed with the KAL.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Photos of “Gentle Teresa”

Gentle Teresa was released in the Early Fall issue of Knitty about a month ago, and since then I received several requests from knitters that they wanted to see the sample without the belt.

Sample was a Medium and was stylized with a belt to match the model’s boots. But of course! This can be worn without a belt. Here are some photos I took of myself wearing the same sample, without the belt.

The pattern is knit without any waist shaping for easy layering. These were taken in about 85 degrees room so I’m wearing a short sleeve tee and shorts. The tee is a medium weight knit, but I’ve worn this vest outside when I first knitted it with a long turtleneck knit tee and it fit very well.

As you can see, this vest is supposed to be worn with enough positive ease to create the oversize top look, but if you prefer more fitted look, refer to the “Finished Measurements” section of the pattern. In most cases, simply going down a size will help.
